I purchased the Farm Tractors book as a Christmas gift for my husband. He has a restored Ferguson tractor and is very interested in learning more about old farming machines. He says the book is a good history of the farm tractor and very enjoyable reading! Santa chose well : )
Farm Tractors - A Complete Illustrated History
First there were horses and oxen, then the self-propelled steam traction engine and finally the tractor as we know it today. But farmers can be a headstrong bunch, not always quick to replace great-granddad’s time-tested systems with newfangled contraptions. Michael Williams, expert in agricultural machinery, takes you on a 224-page global tractor tour that starts back in the 19th century. Ever heard of John Deere’s Waterloo Boy? Henry Ford’s Model F? How about International Harvester’s Farmall? You’ll be a tractor trivia champ by book’s end!

Oh my. I never realized there were so many tractors. I thought they went from horse pulled machinery right into tractor production. We always had Farmall's. And they were not even enclosed around the driver.
Very interesting history of farm tractors.
Great informative book on a very interesting subject.
