First, I would like to mention that I've been pleased with the clothing I've purchased from Duluth Trading until I purchased a pair of these shorts. The first time I wore them the left pocket ripped and I almost lost my phone. Poor quality!

Work Out. Way, Way Out.
If you want to see all nature has to offer, it’s going to take working up a sweat to get you there. Naturally then, Outer Limit™ shorts were made for training up as well as trekking out. Lightweight, free moving and sweat wicking, they’re comfortable for most anything that demands a higher heart rate. Reflective hits on all sides keep you seen when jogging country roads. A zip pocket keeps keys in place and the elastic bands at the back let you tuck a windbreaker or layer within easy reach. Versatile as the shorts are, they’re great for training for your next big trek or fitting a workout into an already-busy schedule. But make some time to get out there – because the views are so much better when you exercise outside the box.

I had my eye on these shorts for a long while and when they went on sale it coincided with my birthday and someone sent me 2 pairs. They were everything I had hoped they would be. Fit well, good stretch, and I've used for hiking, HIIT workouts, playing tennis, and just going about a busy Saturday. I could see these as my "go to" shorts for most active pursuits. HOWEVER, as other reviews mentioned the pockets are too short. Phone falls out every time I sit down. I have 7" shorts that don't have the same problem. Also, the t-shirt loop in the back is not necessary for me. I'd 100% get more if they come out w/ a 2.0 and have deeper pockets without length of short going past 8". It's that frustrating/disappointing that I knocked of 2 stars...
The shorts are fantastic. Great material and pockets are super convenient. My phone fits in zipper pocket perfectly. (S22 Ultra with Speck case)
Shorts fit nice. The material is OK, it is not the softest but is still comfortable and you can move well in these shorts. The pockets are too shallow. I have had my phone, wallet, keys and glasses all fall out at different times. The zipper pocket is hard to zip and unzip. It is very small. When you place your keys or money in the zippered pocket to keep them secure, you will have a difficult time getting the items out.
Shorts are very comfortable, but the pockets are horrible. If I put my phone in my pocket, it hangs out. Same with a wallet. The first time I wore these, I was eating at a restaurant, and my wallet fell completely out of my pocket. No back pockets either. Again, the shorts are great, but without usable pockets, they're not worth buying.
