Versatile and comfortable. Sharp enough to pair with a button down shirt for biz casual though I've also done carpentry, roofing, electrical, farm chores, and more in them. The lined winter version is go-to for outdoor projects in the Maine winter and dog walks. The fabric is thin enough to labor in during the summer and thick enough to keep warm in spring and fall. Certainly lighter-weight than the hose canvas, which is a lot sturdier though to me a lot less comfortable. I finally wore out the knees in the first few pairs I bought and the second round is now becoming work pants to have the new ones slot in as town pants. Seriously love these pants!
The material is weirdly thin. I liked the color (bison) and the fit was nice, but you can tell that they will tear fast, so nice pants if you're planning on wearing casually, but these are not a testament to "Alaska Hard Gear." Alaska Soft Gear, maybe.
I'm 6'4" and 210lbs, finding a pair of pants that fit me well can be a real struggle. These pants fit great though. I also really appreciate the discrete pockets on both legs. The last thing I want is to look like a Swiss Army knife with a million trinkets coming out of my pockets. Also, being able to put my phone in the leg pocket is very helpful. They also feel very durable, but lightweight enough to wear in Texas as it warms up.
First of all, I'm giving these pants 4 stars because I haven't worn them for a full day yet. I've only tried them on and walked around the house, so take this review for what it's worth. I stumbled across these pants while looking for a replacement for my all-time favorite pants from Off The Grid Surplus, which are always out of stock. I came across these and figured, why not? They look similar and are about $20 cheaper. I was not disappointed. They're just as good, if not better, in terms of quality. The material feels durable, and they're very comfortable to wear. I do think they run a little small, though. I took a chance and ordered the regular cut, and I'm glad I did. I usually get a slim cut, but if I had gotten the slim cut in these, they would've fit like skinny jeans. For reference, I'm 6'5" and weigh roughly 260 lbs. The fit is just right: the seat and crotch aren't too loose, and the legs are snug enough to avoid being baggy but not tight around the thighs. I liked them so much that I ordered another pair. If they hold up well, they'll become my new go-to pants. Right now, I'm giving them 4 stars due to the uncertainty about long-term durability. If they last, I'll update this to 5 stars.
