I bought this parka and wanted to like it. But when I wore it on a 20° day, my shoulder and back felt like I was wearing a T-shirt instead of an insulated parka. I could not recommend this to anybody as I was totally disappointed in it. If you're looking for a nice warm winter park look elsewhere.
Until now, insulation could only hold in the heat you produce. But our Insolator Parka contains revolutionary SOLARball® insulation that transforms the sun’s infrared energy into instantaneous warmth – no battery pack needed. Scientists have a name for this phenomenon: exothermic reaction. You’ll just call it not freezing your a$$ off on the job. Better yet, SOLARball insulation is light in weight, packable and machine washable. We’ve packaged this incredible insulator inside a windproof, abrasion-resistant and water-repellent nylon shell. Added an adjustable hood, 2-way front zipper and cinchable bottom hem. And built in 12 total pockets. It’s outerwear you’ll really warm up to.
NOTE: Magnetic closure used in the product could interfere with pacemakers and other implanted devices; please consult with a physician before wearing.
Size
I bought this late in the season, so I won't be able to put it through its paces until next winter. But it's warm enough that I was starting to sweat within minutes of trying it on indoors (and I was wearing nothing but a light t-shirt underneath). The sizing is perfect -- exactly what I expected. Style isn't really the focus for a heavy coat like this, but I think it looks good for what it is, especially when fully zipped. The only misgiving I have with it is the zipper. It zips up with absolutely no issue, but getting it fully unzipped is a bit of a problem. It somehow gets snagged at the bottom, and trying to fiddle with it down there can make things worse. I've found that the best way for me to deal with it is to unzip the coat in one swift motion that forces the zipper past the snag point. I don't know if this will cause any damage to the zipper over time, but it's working fine so far. Zipper aside, I'm very happy with this parka.
I ordered those just before we experienced several days of below zero weather, bottoming out at- 25 degrees. I don't spend extended time outside but do have a dog who loves to go out no matter the weather. With every other coat I have I also needed several layers to assure warmth. So far with this coat I will still have a sweater or sweatshirt, but have had no issues with feeling the cold.
This is the best winter coat I've ever had. Durable, very warm, pockets are great. Zips easy. Looks good and feels good in the NYC winter. Medium Black. 5'10" 160lbs
I've had this parka for a few weeks now. Worn it in very cold weather. It's very warm and comfortable, a bit bulky but I adjusted to it. I haven't had any issues with the zipper as another review noted. I didn't realize the hood is not detachable however that's not a big deal to me.
