I ordered a new black leather belt from the big online retailer. This belt was from a well known brand and was advertised as being of very high quality. What I received was a low quality product that was obviously being stamped out of inferior leather by the thousands, and the buckle was as cheap as one could imagine. I immediately returned this order. I then went to Duluth Trading, found a black leather belt that was actually a little cheaper than the one I ordered from the other retailer, and the quality difference was night and day. The leather was twice as thick, fully stitched and the buckle was of very high quality. I am sure this will last me for many years to come. I would 100% recommend this product.
Men's Lifetime Leather Silver Buckle Belt
A while back, a leathersmith showed us a relic from the ’70s – a heavy-duty leather belt of epic durability. “Nobody makes them like this any more,” he lamented, “but I figured you guys could.” We worked with him to bring back the most durable, ruggedly handsome thick leather belt you’ve ever seen – one you’ll still be wearing decades down the line. Two brawny layers of top-grain Italian leather – 40% heavier than standard belts (yet still a comfortable weight to wear). The layers are fused, then stitched with heavy-duty cord. The silver-finish brass buckle has rounded corners so it won’t jab you when you sit. One of our customers says he wears it so much, “They’ll probably bury me in it!”

I bought the belt for my husband for Christmas and about 4-5 weeks later the stitching holding the belt buckle came completely undone. He had the last one for years and then lost weight and needed a new one. Duluth was great, we set up an exchange, they sent me a shipping label for the one that fell apart and we had a new belt within a week. The only reason I only gave 4 stars was because the first one fell apart. I think they area good company and stand by their products.
We loved this belt but were misled by the lifetime guarantee that has been advertised in the past We bought one 4 years ago and it was starting to fall apart, went back to the store thinking lifetime guarantee and the clerk told us that was not something the company honored. As long as you can look past that it's a good durable belt.
Never thought I would leave a bad review for a belt. This one is so thick that it becomes a major struggle to pull it open to release the clasp. Maybe it lasts a lifetime because it's impossible to wear it. I'm afraid to put it on again, as I'm pretty sure I've going to tear out a belt loop trying to open it.
Going back to the basics: quality leather, sturdy buckle, good looks. It costs a bit more, but well worth it.
