Women's AKHG Red Run Insulated Snow Pants
The one pair of snow pants to see you through all the skiing, hiking, snowshoeing and whatever else you have in store this winter. That’s because Red Run Snow Pants are built with both durability and versatility in mind, starting with a Hyperbola® nylon shell that withstands scrapes from brush on your way down the hill. They’re also highly waterproof, with sealed seams and a shell backed by a 10K waterproof/10K breathable barrier. But the versatility starts with ideal warmth, with 80g Thermore® insulation quilted in that keeps you from icing up in the cold and from overheating when you’re setting fresh tracks in the snow. The suspenders flex for comfort and are adjustable and removable – put them on for downhill runs, unclip them for a winter hike. Reinforced against abrasion at the ankle, with built-in gaiters to shut out snow. Sized for base layers, with an elastic waist and adjustable belt so you have room to customize your layers to the weather report. Get a pair and cut loose any way you want in the snow.

At the end of last winter I decided I needed to find snow pants this year. We have a 14 year old dog that is not winning any land speed records, but she loves her walks. Our windchills can get pretty low in Minneapolis, our dog can handle down to -10*, and I was tired of putting my husband's Duluth Fire Hose pants on over my jeans and long underware. I was completely unsure of what size to buy based on the reviews, so I decided to start with my actual size. I've worn them three times now and this morning's feels like was -6. These are perfect! I am able to sit, bend, and pull the pants up high enough to get them down over my mukluks. I don't like belt on it as I find it hard to open, but that's easy enough to rectify... I just took it off. I wear these with long underware and there is a little extra room for movement. If I were to wear jeans under them, I would definitely need to size up, but wearing them to walk my dog, jeans aren't necessary. I should also point out I'm 51. Being a woman of a certain age, I overheat very quickly. I am not warm/hot in these snowpants, but more importantly, I am not cold. I am comfortable. These are just what I was looking for.
These fit weird. I typically wear a medium in AKHG. I tired on the medium and they fit, but they are made weird and there was no room to when I went to sit or squat. So I tried a large and had the same problem. Finally, an XL allowed me enough movement. If you plan on just walking you are probably fine with your normal size, but if you participate in snow activities I recommend sizing up. I rated it 3 stars due to the fit.
Wear a 2 in lined pants; received these in xs which allows more than enough room for any ski, snowshoe or x-country move needed; removable suspenders allow for tops to be tucked in or worn over pant waist depending on how many top layers are needed or how many helping of lasagna you ate the night before in prep for outdoor activity; slipped them on and immediately felt the warmth! BIG disappointment to realize they will not even begin to go over ski boots!!!!! Tugging mightily, barely over x-crountry boots... . Make them to fit outdoor activities!!!!!!!!! No measurement of cuff was available before purchase.
I tried these on right after they arrived and the button broke off the first time I unsnapped it. The fit was a little odd for my taste. I will be returning these.
