I started running this past summer for the first time in decades. If you can imagine, decades of weight has slowly packed on, so I struggled to find running shorts that would not creep up. I tried all the name brands and nothing worked at any length or even with liners built in. So I gave these shorts a try, and they are absolutely wonderful. They fit well; although I need to size down after running a full summer :). My only suggestion on these, is if they can make the exact same fit, but lighter fabric.
Women's AKHG Trail Tech 9" Shorts
When you escape to wide-open spaces, the last thing you need are restrictive shorts that squeeze all the fun out of your adventure. That’s why Trail Tech Shorts are built with the extreme stretch you’ll need for all those knee-to-nose vertical climbs and full-extension leaps across rushing streams. The fabric is lightweight, yet densely knit, so there’s no shine or show-through no matter how radical your move may be. With all that activity, you’ll work up a sweat, so the fabric also wicks moisture from skin – never feels soggy or clingy. And it’s brushed inside to put chafe-free softness next to your skin. There’s even a specially designed back waistband seam that’ll give your booty a flattering boost. The finishing touch? A pair of roomy thigh pockets built for fast access – because split-second photo ops don’t wait around for you to grab your phone.

I like these shorts! I wear them, under athletic dresses, for cycling and walking in the heat. The high-waisted style is not my favorite, but I knew that's what I was getting when I ordered. I (5'7", 145) have a rather short torso and these hit about 4" below my bra line, so keep that in mind if you also have a short torso. I just roll the waistband down if it is annoying me, but keeping it where it is meant to be does make my tummy more flattering. I ordered them on sale and have two pairs. I was primarily interested in the length to cut down on chafing and the pockets. Both those features are awesome! The lady gusset works as described. I wear these commando with no issues. I really like the pockets but I sweat, a lot, and these shorts wick really well so my phone always gets sweaty. I find the bottom hem on my red pair a little itchy and tight, despite having proportionally slim thighs. It seems to be improving with washing, but something to keep on mind if you are muscular and/or thick. I have a pancake butt, so the butt seam doesn't do anything for my figure, but I don't care. These wash well but take awhile to air dry if it is at all humid.
The fit and material are great. Its hard to find this type of shorts in a longer length so I was happy they came to just above my knee. And the pockets are the best!
I bought a pair of these on sale a year ago, I've worn them a few times and finally wore them out backpacking over 4th of July weekend. Very comfortable, light weight and tough. I tripped, fell hard and landed with a skid. The shorts held up and were like a second skin. I got a bruise but no scratches or cuts and shorts did not tear. Thank you Duluth for making quality clothing.
These shorts are so comfortable and they keep you cool!
