I have had a pair of these for quite a few years and love them. I always wear them with pants and do not have a problem with them slipping down. The padding is still thick and puffy. I can crawl all over the ground with these on and they protect my knees from clumps, sticks, and stones. I am getting another pair in case they get discontinued.
Worst knee pads (and most expensive) I have ever used. They flatten to absolutely no padding after kneeling for a minute or two. They tend to slide and as others mentioned, the velcro must be precisely placed to stay put. I was happy to hear that Duluth Trading Company would refund my money. I'd drop this product and find something better for your customers. Thanks for keeping your word about absolute satisfaction. I've been a huge fan and customer for years. This is the first thing I've ever returned.
If I were just going to use these for small gardening projects, it would be fine. I do like the cushiony material, and I think they are easy to clean. However, for our family's 100 acre produce operation, they aren't for me. We have sandy soil, and scooting and weeding for 2-3 hours at a time is regular for me. The sand either goes in through the hole at the top of the kneepad, or works its way in another way on the bottom or in the back, which causes direct contact with the sand onto our skin if we wear shorts, and is not very comfortable. When using these to pick our strawberries, for several early morning dewy hours, the velcro closures behind the knee didn't hold very well as the puffy side of the velcro just absorbed the dew so they weren't staying on very well. You also have to line the Velcro up just right or your feel the scratchy part just behind your knee, and that isn't very comfortable, unless you wear pants under the kneepad.
These are way too big so they keep sliding down. I tried to give them to my daughter who is a landscaper but she wouldn't take them!
I bought a pair of these 5-6 yrs ago and I am still using them today. Originally I bought them for gardening but I also used them when working on concrete floors. Now w/bad knees, I wear them anytime I have to kneel, even if just for a quick minute. If you really want to get extra coverage, add the gel knee pad, that's an awesome product too. Either one works great, especially when you are working out in the unevenness of a rock garden. Because I wear these all the time ,indoors & out, this year noticed I'm going to have to replace the fuzzy side of the Velcro closure. I'm only writing a review now because I was on this website debating whether to buy another pair or just fix the ones I & as I type, I decided I'm going to do both. The gel is still perfectly in tack, though they are full of caulk etc, but in case I don't get to fixing the others right away... I usually wear these over long pants as I need to protect my skin from the elements, but they are still soft & comfy to use with shorts (wear directly on skin). There is one thing I should mention here-they do have to be fairly tight in order to stay in place & I need them to be fairly loose because of my legs, so I do find myself having to sometimes adjust them up a little once I kneel down, but they are worth it! I didn't have any trouble with them staying up when I walked in a looser mode (but again, I have long pants on). And I just remembered- there is no right or left leg designation so, if you happen to put them on with the strap flap to the inside, you may find your legs catching on each other occasionally when walking. Easy answer is to just be sure the flap of the straps goes to the outside of your leg; there is also a label on the bottom edge in front, just put label to the outside. I just wasn't aware because no one told me. ALSO, these are listed under women's knee pads and my son and husband have been known to grab them for use here and there, the straps are very adjustable in size
