I bought this for a trip to Alaska and only ended up wearing it one time due to it being so cold. I was fishing in the river and while I had my stocking cap on the mosquitoes kept trying to bite my exposed skin ( what little there was). I put this on and didn't have any more bugs biting me. I wish it had been warm enough for me to have worn it more often during that trip, but I know I will wear it during future trips! I have a very small head and have trouble finding hats that are small enough, and this one fit my head perfectly and didn't blow off with the breeze, which was an issue with the previous hat I had purchased that was too large for my head.

I am amazed that this hat keeps the gnats at bay. I live near Mesa Verde, and I am allergic the the gnats, which seem to get worse every year. This hat keeps them away from my face, when I'm hiking,walking dogs , working with the sheep, gardening, and I am happy with it. I like the neck flap too.

The hat has a lot going for it but the problem is in the fit adjustability on the crown of the hat. The stretchy "fit" cord at the base of the hat crown is too smooth/too thin and/or the spring is too weak for the toggle to hold the tension. Adjust it tighter and it slides back, making it unadjustable. An advertised feature that doesn't work.

I wear this for sun protection and to keep bugs off neck and head. Does protect from bugs as advertized. You can adjust the fit with the strap that goes under your chin. Looks good on, too. Glad I purchased it. I wear it outside when bugs are bad.

Great hat. Fits my 7-1/2" head, but has a cinch to fit smaller noggins. I suggest a brim that's a bit stiffer--like a military boonie hat--so it doesn't obscure my side vision.
